The future of the second base position is one that receives a lot of attention from Mets fans. It is a position that is a hot topic at the big league level and the debate about a future replacement continues at the minor league level. The list of leading candidates does not go very deep, but there are names at the lower levels which could make moves in coming seasons.

Highest Ceiling Reese Havens: As detailed in the shortstop piece, Havens will likely move over to the other side of the infield in 2010. However, the fact that Havens has not yet played regularly at second base yet is the position's highest ceiling prospect indicates just how uncertain the spot is at the minor league level.
