Superlatives pour over Wilmer Flores

Though the K-Mets finished just two games above .500 in the Appalachian League, the rookie league squad has a number of young prospects that have moved up the rankings. Among them is budding power hitters, intriguing arms and others with upwards trends that should continue as they head onto long-season rosters. Here are a few of the standouts from the Kingsport Mets.

PITCHER OF THE YEAR: Phillips Orta: 4-4, 2.05 ERA, 14 G, 3 GS, 44 IP, 31 K, 21 BB, .222 OBA The 6-foot-2 right-hander continues to raise eyebrows with his stiff one-two punch of a mid-90s fastball and snapping curveball.
