Gomez Continues To Improve
At the plate Gomez actively cultivates a disciplined outlook which focuses on taking pitches, working counts, drawing walks and getting on base. And it shows. He worked 48 base on balls in 285 at-bats, bolstering his .365 on base percentage which is over 100 points higher than his .256 batting average. However, the 6-foot-3, 200 pound Gomez homered only twice this season and was asked if sometimes he believes he does not show enough aggressiveness early in the count. "Not really," Gomez said through the help of a translator, "I always take one pitch in every at-bat and what happens next depends so much on the situation. Sometimes I feel that I get too aggressive actually."
