Wheeler Hitting His Stride

Zack Wheeler, the 21-year old pitcher from Georgia, is already making his mark in Binghamton. Though the righty's record is 1-2, he boasts an ERA under two, and is averaging six strikeouts a game over his first five starts. As a first round draft pick by the San Francisco Giants in 2009, Wheeler is poised for great things, and he is certainly hitting his stride this year with the B-Mets.

"So far, the season has been great," Wheeler said. "Our team's doing alright, and I think I'm pitching pretty well. So far so good." The feeling is mutual for pitching coach Glenn Abbott, who likes what he has seen from Wheeler so far. "He's thrown the ball well this year," Abbott said of the hurler.
