Biography:
The Mets drafted Wayne Lydon in 1999. He attended Valley View HS in Pennsylvania. Lydon, a speedster, had a break out season in 2002. In his second season as a switch-hitter, he hit .297 with 81 stolen bases and an OBP of .374. However, he had only 14 extra-base hits and struck out 98 times in only 424 AB. Until he learns to make better contact and drive the baseball, Lydon must be regarded as a marginal prospect.

Nonetheless, Lydon might be regarded as a sleeper despite his breakout season. It's difficult to believe that Lydon won't learn to drive the baseball given his frame. If he does, Lydon might turn out to be an excellent leadoff hitter.
