| Biography: |
| The Mets selected Craig Brazell in the 1998 draft. He was drafted as a catcher and played that position in 1998 and 1999. Brazell's big boned and broad shoulders were catching too many foul tips, so the Mets moved him to first base. His .385 batting average in 1999 at Kingsport is one of the highest in recent memory not win a batting title.
Brazell has added about 30 lbs. of useful weight in the past 2 seasons and has room to add at least another 10 lbs. Despite the power potential, Brazell displayed some weaknesses in hitting for average and power at the same time.
Brazell's father was a high school coach and worked with him on hitting. Brazell has excellent work ethic. |
