The Mets selected Tanner Osberg in the 2000 draft. The rangy Osberg hails from Red Deer, Alberta in Canada. Osberg had to commute to play for the Calgary Dawgs, a club team, as Canada doesn't have high school teams. Osberg was 1-2 with a 2.11 ERA in only 21 IP in 2000 pitching for the K-Mets. In 2001, Osberg was 2-1 with a 3.98 ERA.
