| Biography: |
Luz Portobanco was selected in the 36th round of the 2000 draft. He attended Miami Dade Community College. Portobanco hails from Nicaragua.
Portobanco dramatically reduced his hit per inning ratio in 2001 which accounts for the drop ERA. He has also given up only 1 home run instead of the 3 home runs in 2000. He has also improved his strike out per inning pitch ratio from 6 per 9 innings to 7 per 9 innings while maintaining an excellent walk per 9 inning ratio.
