| Now in his twelvth season, Livan Hernandez is no longer the dominant fireballer who helped the Florida Marlins win a World Series forever ago. He is however still a dependable starter who has thrown at least 200 innings in eight of his nine full seasons in the bigs (and he missed the 200 inning plateu by one-third of an inning in 1999). He changes speeds well, moves the ball around and throws strikes. As one of three pitchers who could legitimately claim the #2 spot in the rotation, Hernandez will look to throw lots of strikes, lots of innings, and help Brandon Webb (who has a similar repetoir as Hernandez) continue to mature into a dominant #1. |
