Jacob Matthew (Jake) Ruckle was a 41st-round selection of the New York Mets in the 2004 draft, signed by Dave Birecki.

In 2005, Ruckle was a Gulf Coast League All-Star, tying teammate Robert Manuel for the league lead in wins (8), ranking fourth in ERA (2.10) and strikeouts (33).
