| Michael Terrance Cameron attended LaGrange (GA) High School, where he played football with the Indianapolis Colts' cornerback Walt Harris...Tampa Bay pitcher Jimmy Haynes is from the same hometown...In 2001, he created the "Cam4Kids" Foundation, through which he donates to various charities geared towards inner city youths...Co-authored a motivational book for children, "It Takes a Team," that talks about the importance of teamwork and not being driven by individual goals...All proceeds from the book benefit the Cam4Kids Foundation and are donated to various charities...In 2002 and 2003, hosted the First State Golf Tournament for Inner City Kids...The Seattle-based tournament raised money for scholarships for inner city youth, as well as providing golf clubs and balls for children unable to afford them...Purchased blocks of tickets for inner city kids to come to Mariners games as part of the Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities (RBI) program...Over the past five years, has made contributions to the Garth Brooks (Teammates for Kids) Foundation for each stolen base during the season...Has been actively involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, both with his time and through contributions since his rookie season in Chicago (1996)...Was one of the Mariners representatives for the "Jackie Robinson: Breaking Down the Barriers" program...Taught elementary school children about Robinson's impact on baseball and society as a whole. |
