| Biography: |
| The Mets signed Kevin Deaton as an undrafted free agent in 2000. Deaton was highly regarded offensive lineman who chose the University of Florida over the University of Alabama. But, Deaton decided his future lied in baseball, so he started his professional career. He spent his first two seasons with Kingsport, before having a breakout season with Brooklyn leading the New York Penn League in strikeouts.
