| Biography: |
| Matthew Peterson was the Mets' 2nd round selection in the June 2000 draft. Peterson signed in mid-August 2000 which was too late to participate in games at Kingsport. At the time of the draft, Peterson was variously considered raw or polished. Peterson pitched hurt in his senior year and many teams stop following him. The Mets were one of the few teams that did. Most teams remember him for a mid-80s fastball, but Peterson consistently reached 90-93 range late in his senior season. He touched 95 mph a few times as well.
