Outfield prospects were severely depleted by the untimely death of Brian Cole, the trade of Alex Escobar and the failure of Robert Stratton, Juan LeBron or Brian Jenkins to develop. In 2002, the OF prospects were among the worst in MLB. But, due to some additions in 2002 in the short season league, the future looks brighter if not great.
