The Mets used their 32nd round pick to select Timothy LaVigne from the University of Virginia. LaVigne played SS and served as closer for the Virginia Cavaliers. LaVigne holds school records for saves, appearances and being hit by pitches. He also led the team with assists. LaVigne was a solid defensive SS. LaVigne lasted late in the draft due to concerns regarding his durability.
