Muniz One Step Closer

Muniz has eight saves so far in 2008

On May 27, right handed pitcher Carlos Muniz was called up to the Mets after reliever Matt Wise was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a right shoulder injury. It was the third call-up in Muniz's career with the Mets organization and the second time this season. With each stay in the Majors getting longer and more frequent, he and his coaches have high expectations

Those high expectations are not unfounded as Carlos Muniz has been a solid pitcher for the Zephyrs this season. Muniz had a 1.89 ERA for the Zephyrs in the 16 games he pitched and converted five saves in six opportunities. This is the first time Muniz has started the season at Triple-A, however he did have a short stint with the Zephyrs in 2007 before being promoted to the Mets in September...
