Ruckle Overcomes Early Season Wrinkles

Ruckle wants more time as a starter

The St. Lucie right-hander has been used in every possible way so far this season. He had bounced between relief and starting roles as he worked to improve his game. When Inside Pitch spoke with Ruckle in April, his stated goal was to get back in the rotation. In the past weeks, he has received his shot and ran with it.

By the end of April, Jacob Ruckle was a fixture in the Single-A Mets' bullpen as he posted a 1-0 record with a 0.82 earned run average in six appearances. That strong season-opening performance came off a 2006 season, split between St. Lucie and Brooklyn, in which he made 20 starts in 23 total games pitched.
