Lastings Milledge doubled home Chris Basak in the top of the 11th inning Tuesday, pushing the Norfolk Tides past the Syracuse SkyChiefs, 3-2.
The Tides took an early lead on Jose Offerman's third-inning home run, his first with Norfolk, and added a run in the fifth when Milledge doubled and scored on an error.
Syracuse manufactured a run in the sixth facing Tides starter Miguel Perez, as former Mets prospect Wayne Lydon singled and scored on Ryan Roberts' single.
Rob Cosby tied the game in the seventh against Anderson Garcia – who spent the weekend with the Mets in New York but did not appear in a game – with a solo home run, his third.
Notes: Steve Schmoll (2-1) pitched the ninth and 10th innings to earn the victory. Schmoll walked one and struck out two, allowing a hit in two scoreless frames. … Heath Bell struck out two in the 11th, retiring Syracuse in order for his eighth save. … Perez allowed a run on six hits in six innings, walking one and striking out four.
Double-A Eastern League
David Bacani's eighth-inning double lifted the Portland Sea Dogs to a 6-3 victory over the Binghamton Mets Tuesday.
Bacani, a popular former B-Met, snapped a 3-3 tie with his two-base hit facing Eddie Camacho (1-1) with none out in the eighth. The Sea Dogs added two more runs in the inning on singles by Tyler Minges and Matthew Van Der Bosch.
Miguel Pinango started for Binghamton and took a no-decision in the loss. In seven innings, Pinango struck out seven, allowing three runs and four hits while walking two. He allowed one home run, a solo shot to Chad Spann in the second inning.
Notes: Kevin Rios had a run-scoring single in the fifth inning for Binghamton. … According to the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin, outfielder Bobby Malek left the game in the fifth inning with an injured hamstring and will likely miss Wednesday's game.
St. Lucie Mets
Single-A Florida State League
Jason Jones limited the St. Lucie Mets to an unearned run over six innings as the Tampa Yankees won at Tradition Field Wednesday, 3-1.
Enrique Cruz doubled home Josh Petersen in the second inning, but St. Lucie was otherwise quiet as Jones scattered five hits, striking out five.
The Yankees got to Mike Swindell (2-1) for three unearned runs and four hits, with all of the runs scoring in the fourth inning. Swindell was lifted with two outs in the fifth, having walked one and struck out seven.
Notes: Corey Coles and Jose Coronado each had two hits in four at-bats for St. Lucie. … Edgar Alfonzo, Jr. gave the Mets three innings of scoreless, hitless relief, and Rafael Cova finished up with 1 1/3 blank innings. … The game was delayed one hour, 25 minutes by rain.
Single-A South Atlantic League
Bobby Parnell took his second loss for the Hagerstown Suns Tuesday, allowing four runs in five innings to the Delmarva Shorebirds in a 4-2 defeat.
C.J. Smith got to Parnell (0-2) in the first inning for a run-scoring hit, then added a two-run single in the third. Arturo Rivas added a RBI double in the fifth inning.
Notes: The Suns scored both of their runs in the sixth inning, as Hector Pellot doubled and scored on Jonathan Sanchez's second home run of the season. … Nick Evans was 2-for-4 with a double for Hagerstown. … German Marte struck out five in three innings of scoreless, hitless relief.
