Triple-A International League
Tagg Bozied and Sandy Martinez each had three hits as the Norfolk Tides defeated the Richmond Braves Sunday at Harbor Park, 5-2.
The Tides broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning on Martinez's run-scoring single, helping make a winner of reliever Tim Lavigne (1-1), who pitched two innings of perfect relief.
Jason Scobie started for Norfolk and allowed two runs and seven hits in five innings. Scobie walked four, struck out five and allowed a solo home run to Richmond's Kelly Johnson.
Notes: Bozied, playing in his sixth game for Norfolk, was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a walk. … Juan Perez earned his third hold by pitching the eighth inning, and Heath Bell pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his seventh save.
Binghamton Mets
Double-A Eastern League
Michel Abreu homered and drove in three runs, helping lift the Binghamton Mets past the Altoona Curve Sunday, 5-3.
Abreu singled in Wilson Batista in the top of the first inning and slugged a two-run shot in the fifth inning. Jorge Padilla and Jonathan Slack also drove in runs for the B-Mets, who saw spot starter Chuck Smith (1-0) allow a run on three hits over five innings for his first win at Binghamton.
Notes: The B-Mets swept the series, having won both games of a doubleheader on Saturday. … Binghamton announced earlier in the week that right-handed pitcher Alay Soler will be called upon to make his major league debut this week against the Philadelphia Phillies.
St. Lucie Mets
Single-A Florida State League
Reliever Edgar Alfonzo, Jr. allowed five runs (three earned) in 2-1/3 innings as St. Lucie fell Sunday at Fort Myers, 7-4.
Alfonzo (1-2) took over in the fifth after Mayque Quintero pitched the first four frames. In the sixth, Alfonzo allowed a two-run double to Trevor Plouffe that followed a Jonathan Malo throwing error, and surrendered a two-run single to Garrett Guzman in the seventh before being lifted.
Notes: Quintero allowed one run and one hit in four innings, striking out three. … Ambiorix Concepcion went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and two runs scored.
Hagerstown Suns
Single-A South Atlantic League
Jeff Landing allowed nine runs (five earned) in 2-2/3 innings Sunday as the Lakewood Blue Claws rolled to a 12-3 victory over the Hagerstown Suns.
Landing (2-6) surrendered seven hits, four walks and a solo home run to Greg Golson before being lifted in the third inning.
Notes: Lakewood starter Scott Mitchinson limited the Suns to two runs and four hits in six innings, walking one and striking out eight. … Leivi Ventura had a triple, his first, for Hagerstown.
