Down on the Farm for May 13: Jeff Keppinger's 11th-inning single sends the Tides home happy ... Binghamton swept in a doubleheader at Altoona ... Shawn Bowman's bat helps carry St. Lucie past Sarasota ... The Suns are stymied by Lakewood.

Norfolk Tides
Triple-A International League

Jeff Keppinger's RBI single facing Colter Bean in the 11th inning scored Anderson Hernandez with the winning run as the Tides defeated Columbus Friday, 4-3.

Norfolk put up three runs in the first inning against Clippers starter Kris Wilson and were then held scoreless until the deciding 11th inning. Royce Ring (1-0) got the victory with a scoreless inning of relief.

Marcelo Perez started for Norfolk and allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings, including a home run.

Notes: Tim Lavigne pitched three innings of scoreless relief. … Hernandez and Victor Diaz had two hits for the Tides. It was Hernandez's second game on a Major League rehabilitation assignment. … Chase Lambin had a two-run double in the first inning.


Binghamton Mets
Double-A Eastern League

The B-Mets were swept in a doubleheader Friday at Altoona, dropping Game 1 by a score of 7-6 and losing the nightcap 4-3.

The first game went 10 innings until Altoona's Adam Boeve reached reliever Tim McNab (0-1) for a sacrifice fly, scoring Vic Buttler. In Game 2, B-Mets starter Miguel Pinango (0-3) allowed four runs and seven hits in five innings.

Notes: Jay Caligiuri hit his sixth home run in the first game, a three-run shot off Altoona starter Josh Shortslef. … Alay Soler started the first game and allowed three runs and four hits in six innings, walking one and striking out five. It was his second start at Double-A since being promoted from Class-A St. Lucie. … Michel Abreu slugged his third homer in the nightcap off former Met farmhand Jason Roach.


St. Lucie Mets
Single-A Florida State League

Shawn Bowman homered, had three hits and drove in four runs, Josh Petersen homered and Ambiorix Concepcion drove in two as St. Lucie trounced Sarasota Friday, 9-3.

The offensive support helped make a winner of Michael Devaney (3-2), who allowed three runs (two earned) and four hits in seven innings. Devaney walked none and struck out eight in the effort. Matt Lindstrom pitched the final two innings for his first save, striking out three.

Notes: Bowman's third hit of the game was a three-run homer in the ninth inning off Sarasota's Jon George. … Concepcion and Mike Carp scored twice.


Hagerstown Suns
Single-A South Atlantic League

Lakewood's Carlos Carrasco limited the Suns to three hits over eight innings, striking out nine, as the BlueClaws won at Hagerstown Friday, 4-0.

Deolis Guerra (0-2) started for Hagerstown and allowed a run-scoring hit to Avenillo Asprilla in his two-inning stint, accounting for the decision. Reliever Eric Brown allowed three runs and six hits in four innings.

Notes: Jose Castro, Joe Holden and Drew Butera had the only hits for Hagerstown. … The Suns placed 17-year-old outfielder Fernando Martinez on the disabled list Friday with a strained muscle in his left hand. Martinez has been sent to the Mets' training facilities in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
