Down on the Farm for April 30: Lastings Milledge knocks a game-winner for Norfolk ... Mike Pelfrey is upstaged in his Double-A debut ... Matt Lindstrom's throwing error helps Brevard County top St. Lucie ... Jeff Landing roughed up by Delmarva.

Norfolk Tides
Triple-A International League

Lastings Milledge drove in the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning as the Tides defeated the Rochester Red Wings Saturday, 4-3.

Chris Basak opened the inning with a single and moved to second on Todd Self’s sacrifice bunt. A wild pitch moved Basak to third, and after Julio Ramirez was intentionally walked, Joe Hietpas grounded back to the mound, erasing Basak at the plate for the second out.

But Milledge came through with the two-out hit, singling up the middle to plate Ramirez from second base with the winning run.

Trailing 3-2 in the eighth, Norfolk sent the game to extra innings when Chase Lambin worked a bases-loaded walk from Rochester’s Kevin Cameron, scoring Ray Navarrete.

Notes: Heath Bell (1-1) picked up the win with two scoreless innings of relief. … Jeremi Gonzalez started for Norfolk and allowed three runs and seven hits in six innings, striking out six and walking three. … Milledge (.370) and Ramirez (.151) had two hits for Norfolk.

Binghamton Mets
Double-A Eastern League

Mike Pelfrey didn’t pitch poorly in his Double-A debut, but the stage belonged to Erie’s Humberto Sanchez, who struck out 13 over seven shutout innings as the SeaWolves edged Binghamton Saturday, 1-0.

Sanchez limited the B-Mets to five hits in the effort, walking three. The sterling performance overshadowed 5-2/3 shutout innings by Pelfrey, considered the Mets’ top pitching prospect: Pelfrey scattered just three hits, walking two and striking out eight.

“Really, it was just another game,” Pelfrey told the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin.

Erie pushed across the only run of the game in the seventh against reliever Ryan Cullen (0-3). Kody Kirkland opened the inning with a double and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt, then scored on Kelly Hunt’s sacrifice fly to right.

Notes: Carlos Gomez (.205) and Wilson Batista (.216) had two hits for Binghamton.

St. Lucie Mets
Single-A Florida State League

Matt Lindstrom’s throwing error in the eighth inning plated two runs as Brevard County edged St. Lucie Saturday, 3-1.

Working with a one-run deficit, Lindstrom allowed hits to Brendan Katin and Steven Sollmann top open the eighth. The runners moved up on a sacrifice bunt and Lindstrom threw away a ball hit by Freddy Parejo, allowing Katin and Sollmann to score and giving the Manatees a pair of insurance runs.

Corey Coles had a RBI single in the ninth inning for St. Lucie. Chuck Smith (1-2) started for the Mets and allowed one run and two hits in four innings.

Notes: William Vazquez gave the Mets three shutout innings after Smith left, striking out five and walking none. … Coles (.338) and Josh Petersen (.345) had two hits for St. Lucie.

Hagerstown Suns
Single-A South Atlantic League

Jeff Landing was tagged for six runs in his start Saturday as the Delmarva Shorebirds defeated Hagerstown, 7-0.

Landing (0-4) pitched 4-1/3 innings, allowing 11 hits. He walked one and struck out four.

The Suns’ offense was nearly silent against Delmarva starter Brandon Erbe, who surrendered just one hit - a Hector Pellot single - over five shutout innings, striking out seven. Josh Potter and Manuel Basilio kept Hagerstown quiet the rest of the way.

Notes: Fernando Martinez (.338) had one of Hagerstown’s four hits. Martinez has hit in seven straight games since going hitless on April 19 vs. Lake County, and has at least one hit in 17 of 20 games this year.
