Mitch Wylie allowed one run in the seventh inning and Tim Lavigne gave up three in the eighth as Norfolk fell at Rochester Friday, 6-2.
Yusaku Iriki started for the Tides and allowed two runs and five hits over six innings, walking two and striking out six. Norfolk tied the game in the seventh inning when Sandy Martinez doubled in a run and Juan Tejeda lifted a sacrifice fly.
Notes: Lastings Milledge doubled in three trips, extending his hitting streak to six games. Milledge is batting .396. … Cory Aldridge had two hits for the Tides. … Wylie had been activated from the disabled list prior to Friday's game.
Double-A Eastern League
One day after stroking four hits in Binghamton's extra inning loss, Jorge Padilla continued to swing a hot stick Friday, homering and driving in two runs as the B-Mets defeated visiting Erie, 8-4.
Evan MacLane started for the B-Mets and picked up his second victory, allowing four runs – all in the third inning – and seven hits over five innings. Anderson Garcia pitched the final four innings to notch his first save, blanking Erie on just one hit while striking out six and walking none.
Notes: Enrique Cruz doubled twice, scored a run and drove in a run in four at-bats, one of four B-Mets players to stroke two hits in the contest. … Jonathan Slack, Padilla and Bobby Malek were the others. … Malek and Carlos Gomez each drove in two runs.
St. Lucie Mets
Single-A Florida State League
Palm Beach's Eric Haberer limited the Mets to just four hits over eight shutout innings as St. Lucie fell to the Cardinals Friday, 3-0.
Michael Devaney started for the Mets and allowed a run on six hits over 4-2/3 innings, striking out two and walking two in a losing decision.
Notes: Corey Coles had two of the Mets' five hits, raising his average to .340. … Shawn Bowman committed his third error on a throw, one of three St. Lucie errors.
Single-A South Atlantic League
The game between the Suns and the West Virginia Power was suspended Friday after 3-1/2 innings due to rain.
In the contest, neither starting pitcher had given up a hit, with Eric Brown twirling four perfect innings for the Suns and Robert Wooley turning in three scoreless, hitless frames for the Power. A completion date has yet to be finalized.
