Triple-A International League
John Maine was rapped for seven runs (four earned) and nine hits in five innings, including a solo homer to designated hitter Jason Hart, as the Tides fell at Rochester, 9-3.
Maine, acquired in the Kris Benson deal from the Baltimore Orioles, fell to 0-3 with the decision, despite a 3.18 ERA. He walked one and struck out three.
Chase Lambin homered and had two hits in three trips for Norfolk, scoring a run and driving in two. Jeff Keppinger also had two hits and an RBI.
Double-A Eastern League
Henry Owens allowed three runs in the top of the 13th inning Thursday as Erie defeated Binghamton in a marathon four hour, 49 minute contest, 9-6.
Pitching his second inning, Owens committed a throwing error on a sacrifice bunt and threw a wild pitch to Tony Giarratano, plating the go-ahead run. Giarratano then connected with a two-run single to center, giving Erie a three-run advantage.
Notable: Shortstop Corey Ragsdale was hit in the nose by a line drive in the 13th inning, according to the Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin.
St. Lucie Mets
Single-A Florida State League
Blake Eager held Palm Beach to two runs and five hits over six innings, but was tagged with his second loss as St. Lucie fell Thursday at Tradition Field, 5-2.
Palm Beach added three runs in the ninth against Rafael Cova. Joe Mather connected for a solo homer, Jose Coronado committed an error that allowed the second run to score, and Juan Lucena came through with a sacrifice fly.
Single-A South Atlantic League
The Suns rallied in the ninth inning for the third straight game, scoring two in their final turn on Thursday to defeat West Virginia, 6-5.
Trailing by a run after West Virginia put up two runs in the top of the ninth against Kevin Tomasiewicz and Marcelo Perez, Elvis Cruz hit a two-out solo homer off Joe Thatcher to tie the game. Jose Castro reached on a bunt single and would race around the bases on a Hector Pellot single to center, scoring when centerfielder Darren Ford misplayed the ball.
