Down on the Farm for Tuesday, April 18: Jose Lima is tagged in Norfolk's loss at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ... Miguel Perez and Brett Harper star for Binghamton ... Chuck Smith and Robert Paulk have tough outings as Daytona comes from behind to defeat St. Lucie.

Norfolk Tides
Triple-A International League

Jose Lima was rapped for nine runs and 11 hits in four innings Monday as the Tides were blown out at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 13-3.

Lima struck out six and walked one, but allowed six runs in the first inning, including a two-run triple to Shawn Garrett and a three-run homer to Bobby Scales. The Tides scored all three of their runs in the sixth inning as Lastings Milledge hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot, and Juan Tejeda slugged a two-run homer.

  • Notes: Kaz Matsui went 1-for-4 with a run scored in his fourth rehab game. ... Milledge (2-for-2) walked twice and raised his average to .357. ... LHP Royce Ring allowed four runs (three earned) in one-third of an inning and has a 15.43 ERA.

    Binghamton Mets
    Double-A Eastern League

Miguel Perez threw seven shutout innings, allowing only two hits, and Brett Harper drove in a pair of runs, leading the B-Mets to a 3-0 victory at New Hampshire Monday.

Harper, who had three hits and is batting .421, lined a two-run single in the fourth inning. Jay Caligiuri plated Binghamton's third run later in the frame, reaching on a fielder's choice. Henry Owens pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his fourth save.

  • Notes: Perez walked one and struck out three, notching his first victory of the year. ... Maldonado Oquendo struck out the side in the eighth around two walks, recording a hold. ... Owens has not been scored upon this season.

    St. Lucie Mets
    Single-A Florida State League

St. Lucie's Chuck Smith hit a batter and allowed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the sixth inning Monday, allowing the Daytona Cubs to come from behind en route to an 8-2 victory at Daytona.

Jose Sanchez started for St. Lucie and was strong, scattering five hits and one run over five innings, walking two and striking out four. The Cubs exploded for five runs in the eighth inning against Robert Paulk to put the game out of reach, as Paulk allowed the first six batters of the inning to reach base.

  • Notes: Alhaji Turay hit his first home run of the year for St. Lucie. ... St. Lucie was limited to just three hits in the contest. ... Smith fell to 1-1 with the loss.

  • Notable: Bill Whitehead presents a profile of St. Lucie outfielder Corey Coles in Monday's Treasure Coast newspapers. Coles, an outfielder, tore up his shoulder pitching for Hagerstown in a July 5 loss at Delmarva last season, and is on the comeback trail, going 5-for-9 in his first three games for St. Lucie.

    Hagerstown Suns
    Single-A South Atlantic League

The Suns were off Monday. Hagerstown opens a four-game series against West Virginia on Tuesday, beginning an eight-game homestand.

Hagerstown last played on Sunday, defeating the Lake County Captains 3-2.

  • Notes: Tuesday is Bode Miller Guaranteed Loss Night at Hagerstown's Municipal Stadium. The Suns guarantee that West Virginia will lose Tuesday’s game, or else everyone in attendance will receive a free ticket to another Suns home game later in the season.
