Psomas included in Marlins trade

Minor league third baseman Grant Psomas was packaged with Mike Jacobs and Yusmeiro Petit in the trade with the Florida Marlins for Carlos Delgado, the Mets announced Thursday.

Psomas, 23, split time this season between Hagerstown (A) of the South Atlantic League and St. Lucie (A) of the Florida State League.

Considered a clubhouse leader and stabilizing presence at Hagerstown, Psomas batted .300 (105-350) with 66 runs, 27 doubles, two triples, 19 home runs and 54 RBI in 99 games. He was selected to the mid-season SAL All-Star squad, winning the Home Run Derby.

At St. Lucie, he hit .305 (36-118) with 15 runs scored, 10 doubles, one home run and 15 RBI in 38 games.

Psomas was to be ranked 27th in the Top 50 Prospects issue of Inside Pitch Magazine, slated for February release. Recommended Stories
