Swindell Is Rehabbing From Tommy John Surgery

Mike Swindell was another mid-to-late-round Mets' selection in the 2004 draft class who excelled on the Low-A circuit later that year and garnered high hopes entering 2005 in what was to be his first full season in the farm system. Those hopes were dashed after only a handful of starts at Class-A St. Lucie.

It wasn't because of Swindell's numbers, however (far from it). The right-hander was impressive in six starts, going winless despite a 2.90 ERA and holding opposing hitters to a .231 average. Unfortunately for Swindell and the Mets, he was pitching through pain in all but two of those starts.
