On the Horizon These hitters will need to prove they can hit in the long-season leagues before they can rank among the top contact hitters in the Mets' farm system. Corey Coles - A second-half swoon in the NY-Penn League helped lose some of the luster off of Coles' performance last season. The fact remains that he was at, or near, the top of the NY-Penn League in hitting for most of the season in 2004 after hitting .333 in his professional debut in Kingsport in 2003. Coles hit .369 his last two years at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette and resembles a young Johnny Damon at the plate. Jesus Flores - One National League scout has said that Flores reminds him of Ivan Rodriguez behind the plate, while resembling Manny Ramirez at the plate. Like Ramirez, Flores has a ton of power potential, but he also has Manny's ability to put good wood on the ball.
