Toledo came out of the gate with a deficit in Wednesday's game against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the Mud Hens could not recover in a low-scoring loss. Erie lost a high-scoring game on a blown save while Lakeland relied on a three-run homer from Steven Moya in its win. West Michigan fell to Fort Wayne.

Toledo gave up four runs in the first inning of Wednesday’s game against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the Mud Hens could not recover, falling to the RailRiders 4-1. Starting pitcher Jon Link struggled in falling to 0-2 on the season, allowing four earned runs on five hits over seven innings. Avisail Garcia drove in the lone run for the Mud Hens on a 1-for-4 night at the plate.

Erie held a one-run lead going into the ninth inning of Wednesday’s game against Richmond but the SeaWolves surrendered two runs in the final inning, falling to the Flying Squirrels 10-9. Patrick Cooper earned a no decision in his start, allowing six earned runs on seven hits over 5 ? innings. Melvin Mercedes earned his first loss of the season out of the bullpen. Tyler Collins had a huge night at the plate in the loss, hitting his sixteenth home run of the season and driving in five runs on a 4-for-5 night.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers

Lakeland fell behind by a run early in Wednesday’s game against Bradenton before the Flying Tigers scored eight unanswered runs, topping the Marauders 8-1. Starting pitcher Jeff Ferrell improved his record to 4-5 with the win after allowing one earned run on four hits over seven innings. Steven Moya led the charge offensively with a three-run home run on a 1-for-5 night at the plate.

West Michigan trailed Fort Wayne by a run going into the ninth inning of Wednesday’s series opener before the Whitecaps allowed six runs in the top of the ninth, falling to the TinCaps 9-2. Starting pitcher Edgar De La Rosa fell to 5-4 with the loss after allowing one earned run on six hits over six innings. Adolfo Reina drove in the lone RBI for the ‘Caps on a sacrifice.

Connecticut overcame a late one-run deficit by scoring a run in each of the final two innings of Wednesday’s game against Staten Island as the Tigers topped the Yankees 7-6. Alex Phillips earned a no decision in the start after allowing three earned runs on four hits over five innings. Tanner Bailey earned his first win of the season out of the bullpen. Brett Harrison led the way for the Tigers at the plate with a solo home run and two total runs driven in.

The DSL Tigers scored at least one run in seven innings of Wednesday’s game against the Blue Jays as the Tigers prevailed 9-2. Sandy Baez improved his record to 6-1 with a win in his start, allowing one unearned run on four hits over five innings. Gerson Moreno earned his first save of the season. Domingo Leyba hit for the cycle in the win and drove in two runs for the Tigers.

The VSL Tigers overcame an early two-run deficit by scoring five runs in the middle innings of Wednesday’s game against the Rays, topping the Rays 5-4. Angel Vasquez earned a no decision in the start after allowing three earned runs on six hits over four innings. Jose Lopez picked up his first win of the season and Johan Belisario earned his thirteenth save of the year. Jose Ovalles led the way offensively with a home run and three runs driven in in the win.
