BROOKLYN, NY - When the Mets drafted Nelfi Zapata in 2009, they did so with the belief that a raw prep prospect could develop into a formidable offensive catcher. Now entering his third year in the organization, Zapata is still on that mission as he begins his first tour with the Brooklyn Cyclones.

As the Mets 19th round selection in the 2009 draft, catcher Nelfi Zapata has continuously worked on his game in his three seasons with the organization. He spent all of 2010 with Kingsport, posting a .247 batting average to go along with two homeruns and 20 RBI in 186 at-bats.
